Feast in the said Fourteenth year happened to be on a Sunday in the said Court of Wardmote then held for the Ward
aforesd. within the said Ward to wit in the sd. Parish of St. Helen in the Ward aforesd. before Sr. Robert Godschall< no role > Knt.
then one of the Aldermen of the sd. City and then and yet Alderman of the sd. Ward lawfully and duly by the Men inhabiting
& resiant paying Scott and bearing Lott within ye said Ward according to the Custom of ye said Court and Ward for
all the time aforesd. used was duly elected into ye Office of Constable in & for the Precinct of St. Botolph without
Bishopsgate being one of the Precincts of the said Ward for one whole year then next ensuing and untill another
Person should be elected into his said Office last mentioned for preserving ye peace of the said Lord the King
and for apprehending Rogues Vagabonds and other suspicious Persons within the Ward aforesd.
for ye publick Good And that the sd. John Pugett< no role > afterwards to wit the said twenty second day of December
in ye Fourteenth year aforesd. at the Parish of St. Helen in the Ward aofresd. had notice thereof and then and
there was duly required to appear in ye said Court held before ye Mayor and Aldermen of the said City of London
in the Guildhall of the said City on ye Monday next after the Feast of Epiphany then next following to take his
Oath for the due Execution of his sd. Office last mentioned and to execute his said Office last mentioned

Nevertheless the said John Pugett little regarding his duty in this behalf but intending and
endeavouring the due Execution of his sd. Office last mentioned totally to neglect and omitt continually after ye
said election to ye said Office last mentioned to wit the said Monday next after the sd. Feast of Epiphany and
continually afterwards hitherto untill ye day of the taking this Insquisition (altho' often requested at ye Parish
of St. Helen in the Ward aforesd.) to take his sd. Oath for the due Execution of the sd. Office last mentioned or his
said Office last mentioned in any manner to execute Voluntarily obstinately and Contemptuously altogether
hath refused and denyed and yet refuses and denys against his said Duty in manifest Contempt of the
said Lord the King now and his Laws to the bad and ill Example of all others in ye like Case offending and
against the Peace of the said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity and so forth
