Takeing Notice of the great Exactions of the Waggoners and other
Carriers of goods between Bath and Severall Innes wthin. the City of
London And that by an Act made in the third Year of the Reigne
on the late King William and Queen Mary Intituled An Act for
the better repairing and Amending the High wayes and for the
Setling the Rates of carriage of goods It is provided that the
Justices of the Peace of every County and other Place wthin. the Realm
of England Etc shall have power and Authority and are thereby
Enjoyned and required at there next respective Quarter or Generall
Sessions after Easter day Yearly to Assess and Rate the Prizes of
all Land Carriage of goods whatsoever to be brought into any place
or places wthin. theire respective limitts and Jurisdictions by any Comon
Waggoner or Carrier and the Rates and assessmts. soe made to
Certify to the severall Mayers and other Chief Officers of each
respective Markett Towne within the limitts and Jurisdictions of
Such Justices of the Peace to be hung up in some Publick Place
in every such Market Towne to wch. all persons may resort for
theire Information I take it my duty to recomend it to the Justices
of the Peace of the City of London at the now ensueing Quarter
Sessions to be holden for that City to Assess and Rate the Prizes
of all Land Carriage of goods to be brought into the Innes in the sd.
City And I desire you to Comunicate this to them at the said
Quarter Sessions
