The Presentmt. of the Grand Jury for the City of London sworne to enquire Etc att the Sessions house
in the Old Bailey London in December 1699.

Inpris Wee prsent To the consideracon of this Honble. Courte That being credibly informed by
severall Psons upon oath That Justice being often restructed & Psons discouraged in the
Psecucon of Felons by reason that Psons are frequently admitted to Bonle psonating others and
affirming themselves to be Housekeepers & asserting their places of abode where in truth they
are not to be formed or heard of

And being likewise credibly informed That many houses & Shops are frequently broke
open & robbed after the Watch is gone of their Stands have just grounds to beleive [..]
the Constables are negligent in their duties

Now Therefore humbly Pray yor. Lopps to take it into yor. Consideracon If it be not necessary
to give direccons to the Justices That when any Pson is bound to psecute any Fellon or Fellons
That their Clerkes enter downe the place of the abode of he psentr. & that when the Pson
in Custody tenders any baile the Pson bound to psecute have notice given him to attend
and reasonable time allowed him to enquire after the Psons whoe offer themselves to
be baile for any such Felon.

And That the Lord Maior would be pleased to issue out his prcepts the Aldran of
every respective Ward wth. in this City That they take speciall care That the respective
Constables wth. in their senall Wards doe pforme their duty and abide on their
