Sixth Day of May 1789
Who upon their several Oaths say and first the said
Sarah Smith< no role >
for herself saith that she and her Husband live
at Milbank Westminster
that she came on Monday the fourth of May Instant upon some Business to
the Trinity House in Tower Street
and afterwds. came to one
Mrs. Roes in Great Wyld Street Lincolns Inn Fields
being
much fatigued stayed there all Night that on Tuesday Morng.
the 5th. Instant about seven oClock Mr. Roe's Apprentice
came
to her and asked if that was her Cloak that hung upon the
Chair to which she replyed that her Cloak upon the Chair along
with his Mistresses Cloak but upon getting and searching
found her Cloak was gone that they went in Search of
the Prisoner to several Places and found the Prisoner
in Cockpitt Alley Drury Lane
and conducted her to Mr.
Roes in Great wold Street and detained her till a Constable
came but before the Constable arrived when upon getting
a Candle and looking the Cloak before mentioned was
found the same being dropt upon the Ground by the
Prisoner from be twixt her Legs

aforesaid Hair Dresser saith that being sent
for a Quarterer of Ginn upon returning back with the same
he saw the Prisoner Mary Coghlan in [..] his Masters Shop
along with the Journeyman
who worked there who soon
afterwds. went away together and having seen and folded
upon two silk Cloaks Just before he went for the Ginn
before mentioned and seeing only one of the Silk Cloaks there
for immediately asked Sarah Smith< no role >
if that was her
Cloak or else it was gone upon which the sd. Sarah Smith< no role >
on searching found the same was gone that his Mistress
as well as other people went to many Pawnbrokers
& other Places but 10d. hear nothing of it but in the
