the County of Pembroke GentlemanGeorge
Caines
< no role > of the same place GentlemanIsaac
Lee

Cheapside Warehouseman and Francis Middleton< no role >
Servant to Mr. Clark of Maidenhead Bridge in
the County of Berks Stage Master taken before
me this 29th. day of Janry 1787

Who being upon Oath say, and first the said Richard Foley< no role >
for himself says that the Portmantean now produced containing
a Quantity of Appeal and divers other Articles are this
Informants propertyThe said George Cainer for himself saith
that as he was coming to Town in a Post Chaise this Evening
about six o Clock in Company with the said Richard Foley< no role >
having a Portmanteau fixed upon a Trunk [..] before the
said Post Chaise, as they were coming along Pall Mall he
perceived a Person to slip under the Chaise as it went along
That soon after he perceived that said Portmanteau was drawn
off and looking out of the Chaise Window he saw a Person now
present who calls himself Thomas Petree with the said Port-
manteau on his ShoulderThat he immediately called out
"Stop Thief" on which said Petree dropped said Portmanteau
and ran awayThe said Isaac Lee< no role > for himself saith that
this Evening about six o'Clock as he was walking in Pall
Mall , he heard a Gentleman call out of a Post Chaise "Stop Thief"
That he immediately saw said Petree come from under the
said Post Chaisethrow something down & run awayThat he
then pursued him with others and never lost the sight of him
untill he secured himThe said Francis Middleton for himself
saith that he drove the said Richard Foley< no role > and George Caines< no role > Esqr.
at this timeThat he heard one of said Gentleman call out
