taken before me
this 30th. day of December 1786
Who being on Oath severally say and first the
said Alias Cowen< no role >
for himself saith That as he
was going along the Passage
leading to Covent
Garden
Theatre between five and six o'Clock this
Evening he found himself squeezed by the
Prisoner now present who calls himself William
Richardson< no role >
That he immediately searched his
Pocket and at the same time he felt a Hand in
his Pocket That upon putting his own Hand
towards it to see if his Money was safe he found his
Pocket turn'd inside out and his Money gone
and the Prisoner going off That he immediately
pursued him and laid hold of him when the
Prisoner struck him four blows And this
Informant further Says that me Shilling and
a Six pence now produced by the said John

is part of the Mary that was so
feloniously and privately stolen from his as
aforesaid
And the said John Atkins< no role >
for himself
says that hearing a disturbance in the Passage
leading to Covent Garden
Theatre he went
to see the Cause of it when he saw the Prisoner
strike the said Women That he immediately took
him into custody and upon searching his
Pockets amongst some other Silver he found the
said Shilling and six pence Sworn to by the
said Cowen as his Property
