The Examination of Mary Roberts< no role > the wife of George Watts< no role >
of Acorn Alley Bishopsgate street London taken the
11th. day of March 1786 before me one of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex

Who Saith That on Saturday the fourth day of March Instant
about one or two O'Clock she came to a Chandlers shop in Holywell
lane in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch to buy some Soap
and afterwards went immediately to the Redlyon Ale house in
Holywell Lane aforesaid to Enquire forher Husband George Watts< no role > with is how she Cohabited where she
was informed by a woman that wattsher husbandwas gone to the
Appartments of Thomas Marshall< no role > a Chimney Sweeper in
an Alley close behind the King John Ale house in Holywell
lane aforesaid, she then went to Marshalls Appartments
to see forher husbandsaid Watts and when she came into the roomher
husband
Watts was then not there but there was then in the said
Appartments of Marshall, the saidJohnMarshall
John Booty< no role > and a Blackman called Peter who are
the Prisoners now under Examination, when one
of them (which she believes to be Booty asked her
to pawn a few things for him which came out of
the Country, to which she said she would, she then
had delivered to her by them a remnant of silk and some
Child bed Linnen which she Pawner at Mr. Barkers a Pawn broker
in Shoreditch fortwo different parcels two Shillings and
returned the Prisoners the Duplicates, then they sent her
to Mrs. Smiths a Pawn broker in Shoreditch , and pawned some
bits of Irish Cloth for three shillings and six pence and
delivered the prisoners the Duplicates, they then sent her
to Pawn a Piece of Shalloon and a dresser Cloth which she did
with said Mr. Barker a Pawn broker in Shoreditch for three shillings
and six pence and at her return to said Marshall
appartments she was informed they were all taken into
Custody, And saith that at the time she delivered them
the Duplicates she delivered to them the money for the
Goods which they had sent her to Pawn
