The voluntary Examination and Information
of Ann Allen< no role > Taken the 30th. day of December 1782

Who upon her Oath Saith That about the hour of 6. oClock
in the Evening of Saturday last as this Deponent was Standing
in the Street in Shorts Gardens Saint Giles in the fields
Talking with one John Lawler< no role > and Susannah Cole< no role >
one Elizabeth Carter< no role > came up to Them and asked Mrs.
Cole if She had a Key about her Fox that there were
some things in a place where She had Lodged and She
wanted to get them and Carter said "If I Cannot get them without
I will break the place open" That this Informant then left the
said Elizabeth Carter< no role > and went to a Publick House in Hog
Lane and Drank some Beer with the said John Lawler< no role >
and another person That She then went to several other places
and about 12. oClock the same Evening She went to Mrs. Wells's in
Shorts Gardens in order to go home with the said Susannah
Cole
< no role > (with whom She had slept 2 Nights preceding and who was
there waiting for her) at which time the said Elizabeth Carter< no role >
came into the said Mrs. Wells's House and had with her
a Bundle and Told Mrs. Cole "She had done it" done
"what said Mrs: Cole, upon which Carter said She had
got the Things she went after, Mrs: Cole Thomas Red her
how She got in and Carter informed her She broke open the
Door with a Poper, Carter then desired Mrs: Cole to Take the
things and get some Money upon them which she did
That there were in the Bundle a White Counterpane a himself
Sheet a Black Bonnet a Flounced pettycoat and a Flaunced
Muslin Apron That the said Mrs. Cole carried the Counterpane
and Street to Mrs. Briggs in Crown Court Saint Giles in the
fields and Sold Same to her for 8s. (but only received 5s.) at
that time for the same and was to Receive the Remainder an
the next day That the said Elizabeth Carter< no role > carried the
Remainder of the Things away and pawned Them as She hath
been Informed and Believes
