Who being upon Oath says that on the 18th.. day of May
last a person now present who calls himself James Cowperthwaite< no role >
being
indebted to this Informant for a Wit of Cloaths which he on that
day carried to his [..] Lodging at Paddington
amounting to
six pounds fifteen Shillings in payment [..] the same g [..] this
Informant the Bill of Exchange [..] now [..] ced p [..] ing to
be the Bill of Exchange of William Cooke< no role >
on [..] Scott
Cheesemonger No. 5 Widegate Street Bishopgate Street to Mr.
Thomas Freeman< no role >
for the payment of nine Pounds twelve shillings
and six pence and dated Winchester 29th April 1782 and
this Informant gave said James Cowperthwaite< no role >
a Note of
Hand for the difference of said BillThat he hath presented
the said Bill to the said James Scott< no role >
who denied knowing
any thing of the said William Cooke< no role >
or of the Bill itself
And this Informant further says he doth suspect and believe
that the said Bill of Exchange is false forged and counterfeited
and that the said Cowperthwaite published the same to this Informant
with Intent to defraud him
