at Law taken before in this 22nd. day of August 1781
Who being upon Oath says that about 9 o Clock in the
Evening of the 20th. day of January 1779 he met a person now present
who calls himself Michael Green< no role >
in the Passage
leading from Portugal
Street
to Clare Market
- That said Michael Green< no role >
asked him to go
with him on same Business to Westminster
, where he said he was
to receive some Money and that if he did not receive it he would
give him Instructions to proceed for the Recovery of the same
That he went with said Michael Green< no role >
for that purpose to an
Alehouse in King Street Westminster
which he hath been since
informed is the Dog and BuckThat after he had been in said
Alehouse about an Hour two or three persons came in and
produced some Cards and requested this Informant repeatedly
to Cut said Cards and play for MoneyThat on his refusal
to play with them, he rang the Bell and asked the Landlord what
he had to pay and pulled out the Money he had in his pocket Viz
three Guineas and a half and some silver and three Keys
with Intention to pay for what he had called for when said Michael
Green< no role >
snatched the three Guineas and a half from off the
Table and ran away therewith
