on Oath beofre me one of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace
for the said County
the 9th. day of February 1781.
These Informants on their Oaths respectively say and
first the said Edward Gardiner< no role >
saith that some time in
the night of the 31st. day of January last or early the next
Morning the first of February instant there was feloniously
stolen out of his House in Red Lyon Street in the parish of
Christ Church
aforesaid about one Pound weight of Uniform
coloured bengal Silk the Property of Joseph Lazarus< no role > This name instance is in a workspace.
which
Silk was entristed with this Informant to dye And the
said Edward Gardiner< no role >
further saith that suspecting the said
Silk had been bought by Elizabeth Fordham< no role >
aforesaid
and was in the House of the said Elizabeth Fordham< no role >
in
Cable Street
in the parish of Saint George aforesaid he went
on the 6th. day of February instant with a Peace Officer and
in Consequence of a Search Warrant and found in the said
House the said Silk so stolen out of this Informants House
as aforesaid.
And the said Elizabeth Fordham< no role >
saith that on Saturday
Night last one William Williams< no role >
the Apprentice
of the
said Edward Gardiner< no role >
brought the said Silk to this
Informants House and sold it to her for [..] twelve
Shillings.
