Transportation

William Davis< no role > the above named Defendant Maketh Oath
and Saith That Mathew Lord< no role > is a very Material Witness for
this Deponent upon the Tryal of this Indictment which
said Mathew Lord did sometime ago Sail in a Voyage
from the port of London to Maryland in Virginia as Chief
Mate of the Camden Captain Richardson as this Deponent
is informed and believes upon his this Deponents having
Caused the most diligent Enquiry to be made for him in
order to have him [..] Suspena'd to give his Evidence
for this Deponent on Re Tryal of this Indictment at this Session And
this Deponent Saith That the said Ship Camden in which
the said Mathew Lord< no role > Sailed from England did as this Deponent is informe and believes Yesterday
Arrive in the Downs on her Return from the said
Voyage so that this Deponent shall be Able to get him
Subpena'd [..] to Attend to give his Testimony for this
Deponent upon the Tryal of this Indictment at the next
Session of this Honble Court will be Pleased to postpon
the Tryal thereof as this Deponent cannot safely proceed
to take his Tryal upon the said Indictment without the
Testimony of the said Mathew Lord.
