Justices of the Peace for the said
County City and Liberty

Who being severally upon Oath say and first this
Informant Jane Wastill for herself saith that
she keeps the Sign of the Adam & Eve at Tottenham
Court that about Eight o Clock Yesterday Morning
the Person now present who calls himself John
Chamberlain< no role > came in and called for a Penny Glop
of Geneva which this Informant served him with
when the said Chamberlain gave this Informant
a Shilling in Payment when she returned him
a good Six pence and five penny worth of half
pence in Change that the said Chamberlain stood
for about a Minute within the Bar seemingly rubling
of Something between his finger and his Thumb &
then produced the piece of Coloured Copper now
produced to this Informant saying that it was a
small one (morning a six pence) and desired her to
change it but this Informant having been taken in
a few days before in the same manner Examined the
said piece of Coloured Copper and found it was no
Six pence at all upon which she told him she would
have him detained whereupon he wanted much to be
gone but some persons being in the House they
stopped him untill this Informant sent to
Mr Evans the Constable this informant further
saith that at the time the said Chamberlain offered
the piece of Coloured Copper now produced it was
perfectly White and Bright and had all the appearance
of Silver except an uncommon Brightness that
during the time the Constable were sent for a person
in the House sayd he saw Chamberlain endeavoring
to conceal something under the Shoulder Shop
of his Coat when the other Informant John
