Oath before intwoof his Majesty's Justices of the peace in
and for the said County this 30s. day of April 1772

Who saith that he is a Watchman belonging to and employed by the
Parish or Justices of the Parish of St Mary White Chapel in the
said County and that A this morning about a Quarter an hour after
Twelve o' Clockhe saw a Man inbeing on his duty he saw a
man (who is now present and saith his name is Joseph Lee< no role > )
in the High Street in the said Parish with a Deal Board on
his Backsaith that he made up to the said Man and
asked him how he came by the Deal saith that he
replied he Boughtthatitsaith that being late he suspected
thattheit was Stoln and therefore took hold of the said Man
upon which the said man endeavored to get from him and
Strugled with him muchbut that he held the said
Man and conveyed him to the Watch House
