he had first received the said Watch from Cain and suspected said Cain had not
come by it honestly did not Chuse to keep it that the said Jefferies
Immediately put it in his Pocket and made no answer, that this
Informant Immediately went to the Guard Room in the Savoy that
soon after the said Jefferies came to the Guard Room door when
some Watchmen together with the said Jacob Zesile attempted to
lay hold of him But the said Jefferies Immediately bolted the
door of said Guard Room and refused to open it which prevented the Watchmen coming
in; that soon after Serjeant Hindmarsh came in and enquired
of said Jefferies what was the Matter, that the said Jacob Zesile
(then being on the Outside of the door) made answer "I have
lost my Watch that the said Jefferies Immediately answered
I know nothing of it at which time the said Jefferies held
the said Watch now produced in his hand.
