before Us two of his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the Said City and
Liberty

Who Severally bring upon Oath Say and first this
Informant Charles Stewart< no role > for himself Saith
that on the 29th. Day of January last a Person
now present who calls himself Henry Devries
and another Person who called himself
Samuel Harris< no role > came to this Informant
at the White Horse, on Jun in Friday Street
to Buy a Parcel of Gun hammers and Marey
other Articles of Hardware of the Wolver Hampton
Monus factory that the Said Samuel Harris< no role >
did agree with this Informant to Purchase
his Said Goods for the Sum of twenty Nine
pounds to be paid by the Sd. Samuel Harris< no role >
in ready Mony. & this Informant by his Order
took the Said Goods to the House of the Said
Samuel Harris< no role > at No.1. in New Street
near White Chapel the other Informant
being along with him, and there they met with
the said Samuel Harris< no role > who after some
Conversations instead of ready Mony gave this
Informant a Bill of Exchanged Drawn by
by him upon One Joseph Harris< no role > Payable to
this Informant or his Order at Sight for the
Sum of twenty Nine Pounds insisting that such
Bill was as good as Cash being payable
Immediately this and the other Informant
went to the House where the Bill directed them
to Joseph Harris< no role > at No 2. in Ayliss Street
Goodmans Fields . Upon knocking at the Door
it was Opened by a Person now Present [..] to
whom this Informant shewed the above Bill
saying he wanted his Money he made him walk
in & sit downUpon which he told this Informt
that there was three Days Grace upon the
Said Bill but if he would allow him a Discompt
he would Pay it the Next Morning it bring them
too late to get Cash from his Bankers This
