Another Horse as Mr Shearwood, of his own at Livery at Curtis's and that he the said
Charles Green< no role > had rode that Horse of his own very hard As he had been out a Smuggling
& had been pursued for five Hours, And that his was a good Horse, And offered to this
Informant to Sell him some Neck cloths and Handkerchiefs, who said he wanted none
And this Informant says that Charles Green< no role > Came to him a Second time which was on the
said Tuesday Evening the 10th Decemr. About Boots, but did not pay for the Beer as he had no
less than half a Guinea he said (but which half Guinea this Informant never saw at All)
That this Informant as usual Every Evening did up the Horse the Night of 10th Decemr. about
Six o Clock or after, And some time (to wit about 9 o Clock) be thought himself that he had
not brought home with him (as usual) the Silvered Billed Bridle, Accordingly he went to ye Stable
to fetch it, And on putting the Key to the Key hole the Stable Door moved from him, and the Lock
was off and the Door was broke, And on his this Informants looking into the Stable for the
Horse he found that the Horse, Saddle, and Bridle had been Stolen, and taken away;
upon which this Informant went to Mr Shearwoods House to acquaint him of it, and
heard that Mr Shearwood was at Mr Palmers at the Cross Keys Tavern in Henrietta Street
Covent Garden ; He went there after him but Mr Shearwood was gone from that place, And
this Informant applied to hire attorse to go round to & Turnpikes to give a description of the Horse
as had been Stolen but cou'd not him one So he went on foot to Tysum & Hyde park Corner
Turnpikes, & when he came back to Mr Shearwoods he was at homeAccordingly upon this
Informants telling Mr Shearwood of it he made Answer Then that fellow has stole him
That Charles Green< no role > never came to this Informant with the Boots to Sole, nor Ever paid
for the pot of Beer Since; This Informant Suspecting the said Charles Green< no role > , went to
Curtis's where he said he had attorse at Livery, to Enquire into the Truth of it and was there
told he had no such thing but that he had about 6 weeks before brought a Horse there (a
dark Bay,) for one Night which had been so hard rode that the Horse was off his Stomach
and that upon one of the Stable mens offering the Horse a Mash, The said Charles Green< no role > said
He was come to dine with a friend, And on the Stable Man's mentioning that a pursuit was
last night made after a Highwayman from Paddington road, the said Charles Green< no role > the [..]
immediately ordered his said Horse to be Saddled & Bridled' and went away
That on 13 Novr last Charles Green< no role > Sold a Horse as answered the description of that Horse
at Croydon to Thomas May< no role > Horsler at ye Greyhound Inn for 2-15-0 which he warrant
Sound, And it upon trial he proved So he was to have 10s more. That may Suspecting
the said Horse to be Stolen Sold it directly at one sweed land for 5 Guineas; And the Man who now has the
Horse Man sweed land his name is Herod who was a Baker & now Keeps a Chandlers Shop in Croydon
the daddle he gave to Wm Davey a Postboy at George at Croydon who now has it safe
That when Charles Green< no role > had Sold the Horse he drank plentifully that Night, [..] d was Suspected
& accused by those who were in Company with him of Stealing the Horse, which he denied & was
going to fight, And Charles Green< no role > wanted to get on the Horses bock again after May had bought
& paid for it but was pulled from the Horse; So Charles Green< no role > lay with the Postboys that Night
And in the Morning Sett off for Epsom in a Post Chaise and Wm Davey drove him who he gave
the Saddle to; And Charles Green< no role > said that the reason he sold the Horse was because he was gone
to live Coachman to Lord Grosvenor and< no role > wanted a Boy to be under him. He made Wm Daves
drunk upon the read by Calling at Every House and Wm Davey lost his Hat & left him at Epsom a [..]
that this Informant has not seen him since; Save and Except that the Land lady of the 3 Kings
in David Street saw the said Charles Green< no role > on Friday night last about five o'Clock who came there to
2 Glasses of Gin (for himself & another) As the Land Lady told this Informant, And that the Landlord ta [..]
him out of his House at the Back Door, and he run away as fast as he cou'd & the other Man with him
being told that he was Advertised in Several News papers.
