The Information of Edward Smith< no role > taken
upon Oath before me one of his Majesty's
Justices of the peace in and for the said County
the 16th. Day of Janry in the year of our Lord 1770

This Informant saith that on Thursday Night last
the Eleventh day of Janry Instant between five and Six
o'Clock in the Evening of the same Day this Informant
met in the fields leading from Stepney Church toward
the London Infirmary in Mile End Road two men who
Stoped this Informant & Demanded his Money saith
that he told said two men that he had none saith
that one of sd. two Men said make last and give usyou
what you have; saith that he then put his hand in his
Pocket & took out Six pence and gave the same to
one of the said men [..] (whom this Informant observed
had Boots on) saith thatone ofthe said Man who had
the Boots on said this is not all, we much search [..] your
Pockets upon which said Man with Boots searched
his Breeches Pocket and took there from one Green
Silk Purse containing two Silver pennieswithone Silver
two penceandone piece of Copperanda Brace Medel
of the Prince of walls and one pair of Bristol Stone Stud
or Buttons set in [..] Metal, saith that whilst the
said man with Boots was Searching his Breeches Pocket [..] the
other Man also put his Hand in his left hand
Breeches Pocket butfoundNothing was therein
that this Informant remembers Saith that the said
Man with Boots said to this Informant you have a good
Coat on upon which the other Man came & [..]
pulled off the same & laidit on his Arm and then
took this Hat from this [..] Informants head and put
it on his own and gave this Informant the Hat he
wore and then took the Buckles out of his shoes and bid
this Informant go about his Business
