Middlesex To wit

The Information of George Hall< no role >
and Richard Winter< no role > taken before me
this 12th. day of January 1769

Who being upon Oath severally say and first the said George
for himself says that he lives in Mr. Bromfields's house
at Chelsea, says that between 6 & 7 o' Clock yesterday Evening
hearing a Noise about the Ligeon house he went with one John
Cole
< no role > to see who was there, says that after some Search they found
two persons now present who call themselves Monwell Peartree
and William Marshall< no role > one in the said Pigeon house the other
near it, says that after the said two persons were secured in
the Cage he was informed that one of them had acknowledged
that they had killed two Doves and had likewise took a Plant
up out of the Garden and put it into a Pot, says that he
accordingly went again to search and found two dead Pigeons
and a certain Plant or shrub called a Speekled Gold leaved Savin of
the value of five Shillings and upwards which had been plucked
up out of the Garden Ground of the said Wm. Bromfield< no role > Esqr. says
that he does therefore suspect and verily believe that the said
William Merchant< no role > and the said Monwell Peartree< no role > did feloniously
in the Night Time pluck up and carry away the said Plant or
Shrub called a Speckled Gold leaved Savin out of the Garden Ground
of the said Wm. Bromfield< no role > Esqr.and the said Richard Winter< no role > for
himself says that he has this Morning seen the said plant or
Shrub and is very sure that is the same plant or Shrub
which he has frequently seen in the said Mr. Bromfield Garden
