For receiving Stollen Goods the
Property of the said Prosecutor
Knowing them to be stollen

Morris Holmes< no role > of White Chapel in the County of Middlesex Clerk
to the above Prosecutor upon his Oath saith that upon the Examination
of the above Prisoner David Johnson< no role > and from the Confession and Evidence
of one Edward Johnson< no role > (his Brother) in Support of this Prosecution taken
before some of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex aforesaid at the Angel and Crown Tavern in White Chapll
Assembled on or about the Seventh Day of November last the said Justices
then and there Committed the said Prisoner to Clerkenwell Bridewell
(but the said David Johnson< no role > was before the last Sessions Committed to
Newgate ) and [..] also then and there Caused this Deponent
and the said Edward Johnson< no role > to Enter into a Recognizance to appear
at Hicks Hall in the said County of Middlesex and Prosecute the
said Prisoner And this Deponent further Saith that said Edward
Johnson
< no role > being the only Material Witness against the said Prisoner
in this Prosecution He this Deponent Did on Wednesday the Seventh
Thursday the Eighth and Friday the Ninth Day of December last
Cause the said Edward Johnson< no role > to be Called at Hicks Hall by the
Common Cryer thereof But he did not answer or appear for want of
whose Testimony the said Prosecutor could was [..] not [..] able have been to get [..] a
Bill of Indictment found or prosecute the same withe Effect as this Deponent was then Informed and verily beleives where
upon the said David Johnson< no role > was discharged from Confinement on
giving Bail to appear at this Sessions And this Deponent further
Saith that he hath by Prosecutors Direction made Diligent Search
to Discover and find out the said Edward Johnson< no role > the Witness and
has been to [..] a great Number of Victualling Houses which he this Deponent
knew the said Edward Johnson< no role > used to frequent and to the House of the said Edward Johnson< no role > but has not yet
been able to find him and has likewise been to these Masters
which whom he knew the said Edward Johnson< no role > used to Works but
to no Effect and this Deponent further Saith that he has been Informed
by the Wife of the said Edward Johnson< no role > that the said Edward Johnson< no role >
had been absent from his family since last Saturday and had
Declared to her previous to his Departure that he purposely
absconded to avoid giving Evidence against his Brother (or words.
