AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our Sovereign LORD the KING, at the Middlesex
Hospital situate in Charles Street in the Parish of Saint
Mary le bone in the County of
Middlesex , the Twenty fifth Day of November in the Fortieth Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign LORD GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of GOD of Great-Britain, France
and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before George Hodgson< no role > Gent
one of the CORONERS of our said LORD the KING, for the said County, on View of the Body of
William Thornton< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
the several Persons whose Names are hereunder-written and Seals affixed, good and lawful
Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly sworn and
charged to inquire, for our said LORD the KING, when, how, and by what Means, the said
William Thornton< no role > came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That the said Margaret Thornton< no role > on the eighteenth
Day of November in the Year aforesaid at the Parish and in the
County aforesaid being upon a Board cleaning the outside of a
Widow there it so happened that he fell from the said Board to
the Ground By Means whereof he received one Mortal Wound
of which he languished until the twenty fifth day of November
aforesaid and then died the with at the Middlesex Hospital there
And so the Jurors aforesaid do say that the said William
Thornton in Manner and by the Means aforesaid
accidentally came to his Death and not otherwise
IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said CORONER asthe said Benjamin Pullen< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, and the Rest of his said Fellows, have, to this Inquisition set
their Hands and Seals, the Day, Year, and Place first above-written.
