Depositions of witnesses taken at London that is
to say at the parish of Saint of Lawrence Jewry [..]
in the ward of Cripplegate without in London
aforesaid this 4th. day of May 1799 on view of the
body of Henry Bateman< no role > now here lying Dead

Mary Halton< no role > a servant at the swan with two necks Lord
Lane London maketh oath Rat she hath been servant at the
said House about five weeks that the deced was a Walter at
the house when Dept came to live therethat a little after
six Yesterday Morng Dept. upon coming lawn stairs found the
deced in one of the partners of said House crying very much
Dept asked him what was the matter he sayed he was very
ill deplor able and very miserable but it would loan he our
with himDept supporting him to be in liquer desired him
to go to Bed he sayed he wouldthat in about an hour after
[..] a Boy of the Name of Jack came to Dept. and
sayed the deced desired Dept. to come up to him immediately
[..] he sould dieDept went to the deceds Room and found him
in Bedthe deced Requested Dept to stay with him all Day
Dept sayed the could not & asked him if he wanted any thing
he sayed no Dept left himthat in a quarter of an hour after
dept. went to him he then appeared to be in a sound sleep &
Dept. left the RoomDept says she has often seen the deced in
a strange way that he appeared often to be mumbling and
talking to himself that when Dept first found the deced in
the parlour as abovementioned he delivered [..] watch [..]
[..] to Dept & sayed take this watch & take care
of it for me & keep is [..] it is asked forDept then thought he was in
LiquorThat is about an hour after [..] the deced came to the
Bar where Dept. was and delivered to Dept four Guineas & an half
& sayed to Dept. keep this with the watch until you are asked for it
Dept. says the deced appeared a very stupid young man< no role > and Dept has
often observed him crying

Robert Evans< no role > of Great Surrey street Christ church in the county of
Surrey Surgeon maketh oath that in consequence of having been sent for he came
to the swan with his name Lad Lane yesterday morning between eleven & his [..] that he found the deced in
Bed that he was quite Dead but warmDept observed a Baron
at the side of the Bed containing a blind with in deced Dept to inquire
