Southwark Deposition of Witnesses taken at the Parish of
Saint George the Martyr within the Borough
of Southwark in the County of Surrey this
16th. day of January 1799 on view of the body
of James Cohen now here lying Dead.

Thomas Farnham< no role > a Prisoner in the House of Correction Southwark
Maketh Oath that he hath known the deced James Cohen since
he has been in the said Prison Dept, understood he was committed
as a VagrantThat the deced appeared ill when he fist came
the prison shivered very much and complained of being very Cold
saying he had been lying in the Street and Watchhouse two
Nights beforeThat the deced was very dirty when became to
the Prisonthat the deced appeared to have look theine of his
Limbsthat he declined daily and when he get worse he had
some Broth Gruel and a little Wine given him at times which
Dept. understood was sent him by the Keeper that the Surgeon of
the Prison saw the deced once in Dept. presence on Sunday Evening to [..]
and Dept. understood the Surgeon had seen the deced before that
the Surgeon sent some Medicine in the deced the same Evening that the deced
had some of it given him but died [..] on the Monday Morning
following before he had taken the remainder
