Southwark

Deposition of Witness touching the death of John
Smith
< no role > at the Parish of Saint John
within the Borough of Southwark in
the Co. of Surrey the 3d. Janry 1799.

John Devall< no role > of Oak Lane in the Parish of Saint
John Southwark< no role > labourer maketh Oath that last Tuesday
Morning just as it was life Dept being passing the door of
the house where the deced lived the door being open, dept went
in & saw the deced lying upon the floor, dept get assistance &
took him up, & light his fire for him, and gave him a little
Gin the told dept he had fallen dour the was old & very
infirm Dept saw him again in the [..] Says the next morning
about seven or a little after dept being passing the deced
house he observed two Watchman there, & on looking into the
room where he had seen the deced the day before he saw lying
upon the floor on his back head.
