Southwark Depositions of Witnesses taken at the Parish
of Saint Thomas within the Borough of
Southwark in the County of Surrey this 24
day of October 1797 on view of the body of
Ann Arthur< no role > now here lying Dead

John Morris< no role > of 152 Kent Street< no role > Southwark Chandler maketh
Oath that about five in the afternoon of Thursday last Dept sitting
in his shop heard a violent Shriek Dept. went his street Door
and there saw the deced come out of her Fathers house which
is next to Dept. with her Cloaths on Fire Dept. went towards
her but before Dept. got to her a Woman went to her & threw [..]
an Apron over and by that means extinguished the Fire the deced
appeared very much burnt and cryed very much some persons
took the deced into her Fathers house about ten Minutes after
the Father of the deced took her out of his House up the Street
in order to take her to Saint Thomas's Hospital .

maketh oath about five oClock in the afternoon of Thursday last
Dept. being at work was sent for home upon Depts. getting to his House
he found the deced in a lower appartment of the House one of his
Neighbours annointing the deced with Oil. That she appeared very
much burnt about her Neck Throat Breast and Ears. That she
cryed very much and seemed apprehensive Dept. would beat her
Depts. Wife was not at home at this time. as soon as the person
Last done rubbing the deced with Oil Dept. being advised brought
her to Saint Thomas's Hospital where Dept. left her in care of
some persons belonging to the Hospital-Dept. has been informed
the deced died about one oClock on Saturday Morning last
