An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the
parish of Saint Thomas within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey on the
nineteenth day of September in the thirty seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign
Lord George the third King of Great Britain Etc before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner
of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of
the body of Thomas Edger< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of Decimus Hayward< no role > , Peter
Jones, John Carter< no role > , John Lee< no role > , John Channer< no role > , William Dolby< no role > , Thomas Graham< no role > , Isaac
Smith, James Archer< no role > , John Savoy< no role > , Luke Cannon< no role > , Thomas Clinch< no role > , Daniel Blundell< no role >
and John Harris< no role > , good and lawful men of the Borough of Southwark aforesaid who
being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said Lord the
King when how and in what manner the said Thomas Edger< no role > came to his death say
upon their oath that the said Thomas Edger< no role > on the fifteenth day of September
in the year aforesaid being driving a certain Coach drawn by two horses along and
through a certain publick road and Kings common highway situate in the parish
of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex It so happened that the said
Coach was then and there accidentally casually and by misfortune overturned
and the said Thomas Edger< no role > thrown with great force and violence from the Coach
box of the said Coach down to and against the ground there by means whereof
the said Thomas Edger< no role > did then and there receive one mortal bruise and fracture
in and upon the head of him the said Thomas Edger< no role > of which said mortal bruise
and fracture he the said Thomas Edger< no role > from the said fifteenth day of September in the year
aforesaid until the eighteenth day of the same Month of September in the same year as
well at the said parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex aforesaid
as also at the before mentioned parish of Saint Thomas within the Borough and County
aforesaid did languish and languishing did live and on the same day and year last
mentioned at the parish last mentioned within the Borough aforesaid in the County
aforesaid he the said Thomas Edger< no role > of the said mortal bruise and fracture did die,
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that the said Thomas
Edger in manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally casually and by misfortune
came to his death and not otherwise-In Witness whereof as well the said
Coroner as the said Decimus Hayward< no role > the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of
himself and the rest of his fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set
their hands and seals the day year and place first above written
