Southwark Depositions of Witnesses taken at the
Parish of Saint John within the a
Borough of Southwark in the County
of Surrey the 19th. day of April 1791
on view of the body of a Man unknown
now here lying Dead

Abraham Barton< no role > Grave digger to the parish of Saint
John within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey
maketh Oath that about a quarter before nine OClock on
Sunday Morning last a person who looke like a Waterman
came to Dept. & informed him a drowned Man lay on
the causeway as Pickleherring Stair in the parish aforesaid
Dept. immediately procured a shell and went to Pickle-
-herring Stairs aforesaid and there found the deced on
Man unknown lying on the causeway aforesaid - that
the deced had all his Cloaths on that he appeared to the
a very poor Man his Cloaths very ragged and toon
that he examined the deced pockets but found nothing
in them - that he conveyed him to the bone house of said
parish - that he has made diligent inquiry but cannot
learn who the deced was

George Taylor< no role > a Pauper belonging to the parish of Saint
John Southwark and living in the Workhouse of said parish
maketh Oath that he lay the body deced outthat
the examined the deced and found no marks of violence
whatever on him.
