Botolph without Oldgate in the ward of Portsoken in London aforesaid on the thirteenthday of Julyin the
Twenty ninth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and
Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth Before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City
of London and Brough of Southwark on view of the Body of John Edis< no role > then and then lying dead by the Oath of John White< no role >

Pettell and William Coles< no role > good and lawful Men of the said City of London now here sworn and charged to Inquire for our said Lord the King
when how and in what manner the said John Edis< no role > came to his Death say upon their Oath that the said John Edison the
Eleventh day of July in the Twenty ninth year aforesaid about the hour of two in the Night of the same day with Force and Armsal
London, that is to say, is the Parish and ward aforesaid in London aforesaid the Dwelling house of one William Tyler< no role > their situate
feloniously and Burglariously did break and enter with intention one Elizabeth Taylor< no role > Spinster in the peace of God and our said
Lord the King and in the said Dwelling house then and there being and lawfully burlariously and feloniously to aforesaid and her the said
Elizabeth Tyler< no role > agaisnt the will be the said Elizabeth Tyler< no role > then and there burlariousy and feloniously to Parish and Carnally
known against the form of the statute in said Case made and proved and against the peace of our said Lord the King his
Crown and Dignity, And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do further say that William Tyler< no role > the Younger them and there being in
the said Dwelling hosue in order to prevent the said John Edis< no role > from carrying into Execution and compleating his aforesaid felonious and burglarious
intention and in defence of the Chastity of the said Elizabeth Tyler< no role > Justifiably and inevitable necessity did attack and aforesaid John Edis< no role > and that
the said William Tyler< no role > the younger a certain pistol loaded with Gun Powder and two leaden Bullets which he the said William Tyler< no role > the younger in his right
hand them and there hand and held to at and against the said John Edis< no role > Justifiably and of inevitable necessity did shoot off and discharge giving to him the said
John Eids them and there with the leaden Bullets aforesaid shot off and discharged by force of the Gun Powder from the said Pistol by him the said William Tyler< no role > she
Younger as aforesaid two mortal Wounds in and through the neck of him the said John Edis< no role > of which said mortal wounds she the said John Edis< no role > then and
there in stantly die and so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that the said William Tyler< no role > the younger gun that the said John Edis< no role > in
manner sand by the means aforesaid Justify and inevitable necessity did kill and slag In Witnesses whereof as well the said Coroner as the said
Jurors have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the day year and place first above written
