WHEREAS Complaint hath been made unto us, the Right
Honourable John Boydell< no role > Lord Mayor
of the City of London , and William Newman< no role > Esquire one of
the Aldermen of the said City, two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace
in and for the said City and Liberties therefore, by
the Churchwardens of the
Parish of Saint Dionis back church London, that William
Arch (an Inhabitant of the Said Parish, and
one of the People commonly called Quakers) had refused to pay such
Money as was duly rated upon him, towards the necessary Repairs of the
Church of the Said Parish; and We, the said Justices, proceeding according
to the Form of the Statute, in that Cafe made and provided, to examine
upon Oaths, into the Truth and Justice of the said Complaint, did by Order
under our Hands and Seals, direct that the said William Arch< no role > This name instance is in set 1505.
upon Notice of our Said Order, Should forthwith pay unto the Said Church-
warden the Sum of Two Pounds five Shillings being
the amount of one yealy Rates, (duly made for the Purpose
afroe-mentioned) ending at Lady day last and also the
futher Sum of Nine Shillings and Four-pence, towards the Charges
already sustained for the Recovery of the said Dues: And whereas,
Mathew Gibbs< no role > having this Day made
Oath before me, Whose Name is hereunto Subscribed, that he hath given
Notice of the Said Order to the said William Arch< no role > This name instance is in set 1505.
and that he has rufused or
neglected to obey the same, or any Part thereof.

There are therefore in his Majesty's Name, to authorize and require
you the said Church-warden with the Assistance of a Constable of this
City, in the Day Time, levy by Distress and Sale of the Goods and
Chattles of the said William Arch< no role > This name instance is in set 1505. the said
Sum of Two Pounds five Shillings together with
the futher Sum of fourteen Shillings and four Pence
for the Costs, rendering
to him the Overplus of Such his Goods and Chattles, if any be, over and
besides the said several Sums of Money, and the reasonable Charges of
making such Distress. And for your so doing, this Shall be your sufficient
Warrant. Given under my Hand and Seal this
