The Minutes of the last Vestry of the 26th. October read and
Confirmed.
This Vestry was held pursuant to public Notice given
in the Church for the annual Election of Parish Officers;
to receive the Account of the Artificer's Bills for the Repairs
of the Church, and on other affairs.
Church Wardens
Mr. Church Warden Tutet, acquainted the Gentlemen
present, that when he was deprived of the Assistance of Mr
Powell his Colleague in office, he had, by the advice of the
Overseers
, invited Mr. Smith to officiate in his room, and
Mr. Smith had attended for some time at the Vestry when the
Poor were paid. That Mr. Dod, who was a Senior
Inhabitant,
to Mr. Smith, had come to reside in the Parish at Lady day,
and was now eligible to the Office of Church Warden-Therefore
he submitted it to this Vestry, Whether Mr. Smith or Mr Dod
should be put up for the Office of Upper Church Warden.
And the Matter being taken into Consideration, Mr Duncan
moved That Mr.
Benjamin Smith< no role >
be put up to serve the
Office of Upper Church Warden
, and being seconded, Mr Smith
was accordingly put up to Serve the Office of Upper Church-
Warden for the year ensuing and Chose.
