The Minutes of the several Sub. Committees were read

The Calender of the prisoners being laid before the Committee there appeared to be

Prisoners &c.The Petitions of the following persons for the place of Superintendant of the prisoners were
then read.

And they having been all called in and examined the Committee

Gearing Jno< no role > . Appointed
Superintendt . of Prisoner
His Salary &c.Resolved that John Gearing< no role > be appointed Superintendant of the prisoners
during the pleasure of the Committee with a Salary of Eighteen Shillings a week, that
he be allowed Two Rooms for his apartments, that he be not permitted to follow any
other employment, that he reside constantly in the Hospital, and give up the whole of
his time to the Superintendence of the prisoners that he is not to receive any fee
emolument or profit whatever over and above his Weekly Wages.

Ordered the Clerk to give to John Gearing< no role > a fair copy of his appointment.

Steward & Superintendt.
to Purchase Hemp and
Oakum.Ordered the Steward in conjunction with John Gearing< no role > to purchase One Ton of
Hemp and One Ton of Oakum for the employment of the prisoners.

The Beadle having represented to the Committee that the prisoners were
suffering great hardships from want of Beds or some covering in the night time

Steward to purchase
Straw.Resolved that till some general improvement is adopted for the benefit of the prisoners
the Steward be ordered to purchase a sufficient quantity of Straw for their use

Also Mattrasses &c.Resolved that the Steward do purchase four Hair Matrasses and Bolsters with proper
Blankets and Coverlids for the use of the patients in the Infirmary on the Mens side
