The Voluntary Examination of Mercy Holloway< no role > of the
parish of Saint Botolph without Aldgate in the said County
of Middlesex Singlewoman taken on oath before me John
Sherwood
< no role > - Esquire one of his Majesties Justices of the
Peace in and for the said County this - Eleventh day
of March 1775 .

Who Saith That She is now With Child And that the Said Child
is likely to be born a Bastard and to be Chargeable to the said
Parish of Saint Botolph without Aldgate and that Thomas
Boddy
< no role > now or late of half Moon Alley in the Parish of Saint
Botolph without Bishopsgate London Butcher is the Father
of the Said Child and this Examinant Further Saith that Sometime
ago She was hired & lived as a hired Servant by the year with
Joseph Smith< no role > in Upper East Smithfield in the said parish of St
Botolph without Aldgate Butcher at Certain Yearly Wages &
Continued in Such Service for the Space of one Year & Four Months
& by means thereof gained a legal Settlement there That She this
Examinant has not Since lived as a hired Servant for a year or
was ever Married nor hath done any Act to gain a Subsequent Settlement
