William Benefield< no role > maketh oath that he never
was informed nor Can set forth where he was born Nor doth
this Depont. know nor Can he in any Manner set forth the
Place of settlement of his Parents or either of them And
this Deponent Saith that he was never bound an Apprentice
nor never lived as a hired Servant for a year nor never
Served any Parish office nor never Paid any Poors Rates
or kings Taxes And this Depont. farther Saith that about
Twenty five Years ago he was Married to his now wife
Elizabeth< no role > (whose Maiden Name was Stevenson< no role > ) The which
Elizabeth this Deponts wife before and at the time of this
Deponts Marrying her lived in & rented a house of Fifteen
Pounds by the Year Rent in the Parish of Camberwell in the
County of Surry And that immediately from & after such
Marriage he this Depont. and his Said wife lived in and
Continued together in Possession of such house at & under
such Yearly Rent as aforesaid for above the Space of
Forty days and by Means thereof as he this Deponent is
advised & apprehends he this Depont. gained a legal settlemt.
is the Said Parish And this Deponent farther Saith that
he hath not since rented a house of Ten Pounds a year or
upwards nor hath he done any Act to his knowledge or
belief to Acquire a subsequent settlement And that he hath
also a Child named Mary< no role > aged about Twelve Years the
lawful issue of this Deponent by his said wife.
