Previous Binding.
Flexibly sewn on six raised bands, though only five band were usually
caught up on sewing each Section. This Volume was half bound in brown
Goat Skin, With Stormont Marbled paper sided on laminated rope-fibre
millboards. The endpapers were white, and there is evidence of green
and orange head bands having been used. The presence of unused sewing
holes in the spine indicates that this was not its original binding.

The raised bands were decorated by the use of plain and decorative
pallets. Fragments of lettering from the 2nd and 3rd panels have been
retained and are now positioned at the front of the volume. A small
decorative roll was used to edge the leather in gold at the spine and
Corners.

Repair.
Deacidified with a 50% solution of Calcium hydroxide, and repaired as
necessary with Bodleian hand made repair paper, silk chiffon lisse,
bank paper and lens tissue using starch paste. Red ink on the Index
leaves was protected using 4% N-Methoxymethyl Nylon.

Binding.
Rebound using ' Oasis Nigerian Goat Skin' treated with Potassium lactate.
The marbled paper sides were made at 'The Compton Press, Tisbury' .
Starch paste has been used throughout, except for glueing and lining the
spine, where Polyvinyl acetate was used.
