Beadles Gratuity orderd
½ yr Midsr 1751


Upon Reading the humble Petition of the four Beadles Portersman of this
Hospital for their usual Gratuities of Forty shillings a Peice in respect
of the half Year ending at Midsumer last for that their Salarys are but
Small It is Ordered That the Clerk of these Hospitals do give and
pay unto them Forty shillings a peice to be Allowed him in his next
Account.

of the Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuities of Twenty shillings
a peice inrespect of the half Year ending at Midsr. last for that their & large
are but Small It is Ordered that the Clerk of these Hospitals do give
and pay unto them Twenty shillings a peice to be Allowed him in his next
Account.

Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 5th.
day of July last 1751 under the hands of Dr. Richard Rawlinson< no role > Mr. George Verney< no role >
Mr John Cook< no role > Phineas Cheek< no role > Esq and Mr Deputy Pycroft as follows
Vizt.At this Comittee the several Petitions Referred to them by the last
Court) of Benjamin Lamb< no role > of Kings Street Westminster Tailor James McDonall< no role >
of Newport Street Saint Giles Cabinet maker William Waddington< no role > of Old Round
Court in the strand Victualler Thomas Lewis< no role > of Blackmore Street Clare market
Curier were readEach praying a Lease of a house in Saint Martins Lane near
Charing Cross (No. 6 ) late in Occupation of Joseph Hudson< no role > (part of the Pensions of
Bethlem Hospital) And each proposeing to take in the Condition it now is and to
put it into Tenantable repair at his own Expence for 14 [..] from Midsr. 1751

And Mr. Cordwell and Mr Cleaver having by Order of the Comittee Viewed
the premes reported that the following repairs were Necessary to be done Esqr.To
clean the Gutters and to Mend the Stacks and Weather boarding over the same and
Balusters on the Stairs and Paint and Whitewash the whole house inside & out
as was before and clear the Rubbish out of the Celler.

And the Petitioners being Severally calledBenjamin Lamb< no role > who by
his Petition offered £19 P Ann rent clear of Taxes did not Appear

Whereupon the Comittee are of Opinion to Accept the Last Proposal of Thomas
Lewis and he being called in and Acquainted therewith gave a Guinea to the Poor box
All which is Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgment of the Court And it is Ordered
that this be referred to the next CourtThis Court having duly Weighed and
Considered the sd Report doth Confirm the same And Order that a Lease made to the
said Thomas Lewis Accordingly.
