Treasurer his Resignacon}


Mr President acquinting this Court that he received a Letter from
Robert Bishop< no role > Esqr . the Treasurer of these Hospitals in the following words
My ill state of Health not permitting me to attend in person I have requested
my good friend Mr Myers to acquaint yor Worship and therest of the
Worthy Governors of Bridewell Bethlem Hospitalls with my Resignation
of the office of Treasurer to the said Hospitals I have endeavoured to
discharged the same for 2 Years last past in the best manner I cou'd But my
late frequent Indispositions and Infirmitys requiring nest quiet and
Retirement from Busines obliges me to this Resignation and which I
request may be Accepted, I am, Sr yot most obedt humble servet (signd) Robt
Bishop

auditing (which) I crave may be done soon) & my Ballance of Cash his in the
Bank ready to be paid as the Court shall directThis Court accepted the
said Resignation and Ordered the said Mr Bishop's Account to be referred
to the Committee of Auditors, who are desired to settle the same

At this Court the following Proposals being read vizt

Proposals for Orders & Regulations humble offered to the Court of the united Hospitals of Bridewell
& Bethlem by Walter Pope< no role > one of the Governors

1.


That all the Accounts of both Hospitals, now depending, be forthwith the
made up and audited to Christmas last and be reported to the Court on or
before next Election day

2.


That upon next Election day an Accountant be named for the Service of both
Hospitals at 20th a Year which is the Sum the Clerk has allowed him Annually
for making up his own and the other Officers Accounts over and above his
Sallary and other perquisites

3.


That for the future the two Stewards of the Hospitals for the time being
do severally Collect the Rents and profits belonging to each Hospital and
give Security accordingly

That all money belonging to both Hospitals be paid into the hands of the
Treasure for the time being to be applyed to the use of the several Charitys as the
Court has directed and shall direct

That the Comittee of Bethlem Hospital for the time being do consider and Report
to the Court in what manner the poor Incurable Patients may be eased of
their Weekly payments

That the same Comittee do also consider and Report how the Poor patients in
General may be relieved from payment of Fees upon being received into or
discharged out of that Hospital

That the same Comittee to advise with the Physitian and Report whether any
method may be found out of reducing the Expences of the Charitys in Physick
which at present amounts to near £400 a Year

That all the Ordered relating to the Government of both Hospitals be fairly
entred in reperate Books to be kept at each Hospital for the Information of all
the rest of the Governors as well as of the several Comittees
