Colston Edwd.a Legacy
of £500 to Bethlem Hospl}


Whereas Edward Colston< no role > Esqr . by his last Will bequeathed the Sum of £500
to the Hospital of Bethlem London to be laid out in a purchase of
Lands for the benefit of the said Hospital And Whereas at a Court
holden at Bridewell Hospital on Friday 2d July 1736. The Treasurer of
the said Hospital of Bethlem reported to the Court that pursuant to an
Order of Court of the 6th. of May then last the Comittee had agreed for
the Purchase of a Farmhouse adjoyning to the four Swanns Inn at
Waltham Cross and Land let with the said Farm house to one Thomas
Hall
< no role > at £62 P Ann at the price of £1480. and that the said Legacy
of £500. was intended to have been part of the purchase money but not
being received. Mr. Treasurer had advanced the sameWhereupon
Mr. Coulson Exor of the said Edward Colston< no role > deced was desired by the
Court to pay the said £500 to the Treasurer to be applyed by him as
part of the said Purchase money for the said FarmNew at this Court
Walter Pryse Esqr . one of the Governors of the said Hospital delivered to
the Treasurer of the said Hospital a Bill drawn by Francis Colston< no role > and
Alexander Ready< no role > Esqr s. on Messrs. Heare & Company Bankers for £500.
payable to the Receiver or Cashier of the said Hospitals in full discharge of
the said LegacyWhich Mr. Treasurer is desired to receive and to apply
the same to replace the money so advanced in part of the aforesaid purchase
and to give a discharge or discharges in full for the same.

Hospitals and Ordered Staffs to be imediately sent to them.
