Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 27th. of
January last under the hands of the Right Worshipfull Robert Alsop< no role > Esqr . Alderman
Trear Waller Pryse< no role > Esqr . Mr. Allen Webb< no role > Dr. Richard Rowlinson< no role > Mr. Robert

< no role > Mr. Richard Brdgman< no role > Dr George Wharton< no role > Mr. Robert Hall< no role > Mr. Edward

< no role > and Mr William Brent< no role > in the words and figures following Vizt.
This Comittee have called before them all the Officers and Servants belonging to this
Hospital to inquire into the Cause of the late Fire in the Hemp Warehouse but were
not able to discover by what accident the same hapned However your Comittee
examined into the diligence of your Servants and those of the Fire Offices and
rewarded such as distinguished themselves by their assiduity in extinguishing the fire
and among the rest Your Committee gave one shilling a peice to 47 Boys who behaved
well in playing the Engines and removing the Flax which Money we beg leave to
observe as appeared to us upon Examination was by Menaces or other Contrevances
extorted by the Great Boys from the little Boys against their Inclinations under
pretence of expending the same at the Neighbouring AlehousesAnd we have discovered
that one William Lamb< no role > was the Principal Offender and his behaviour in the affair
we think was very extravagant and of evil example and tends to the Encouragement of
Rioting and Drunkenness, Vices to be avoided amongst all Children therefore we
represent the behaviour of the said William Lamb< no role > that the Court for example may
punish him in such manner as they shall think fittAll which nevertheless is
submitted to the Judgment of the Courtand it is Ordered that this Opinion be reported
to the next CourtAnd the said William Lamb< no role > being called in byzed pardon
of the Court and promised to behave himself well for the futureHe was
Reprimanded by Mr.Presiden & Ordered to return home to his Master.
