Apprentices


At this Court the Poor Boys hereafter named were ordered to be put Apprentice
in this Hospital at the nomination of the Governor s hereafter named vizt

Upon reading the humble Petition of John Temple< no role > Setting forth that he
Served his apprenticeship to James Cundett< no role > of the Artsmasters
of the hospital by Indenture dated the 15th. of January 1706 & by an order if
this Court of the 15th. of Novemr. 1714 he was on the 13th. of Octor. 1718 been
made free of this City and is Set up for himselfe in his said Trade in Dunnings
Alley in Bishop Gate Street and that upon his humble Petition to this Court
the 24th. day of July 1719 It was Ordered that Mr William Lee< no role >
Mr. Furnes & Capt. Hannet three of the Governor s of these hospitals
or any two of them Should be desired to Inquire whether the said
John Temple< no role > was sett up in his said Trade and to make their Report
to this Court pursuant to which order the said Mr Lee & Mr Furnes
did make such Inquiry but both dyed before they made any Report
thereon to this Court And praying Some part of Mr. Locks Gift to
Enable him to carry on his said Trade It is Ordered that Mr
Mulcaster Capt Hannott & Mr. Bloodworth or any two of them be
desired to Inquire whether the said John Temple< no role > be set up in
his said Trade and of his hopefullness therein and to make their
Report to this Court

The Clerk acquainted this Court that in persuance of two orders of this
Court of the 29th of July & 4th of August Last he had prepared a Lease for Mr. Armit
which had been perused & approved by the Comee of this house and that ye sd
Lease was by the first of ye sd Orders to Comence from Midsumr. 1721 wch
is the time of the expiration of the Lease formerly made to Mr Sarah Newby< no role >
under wch. the sd. mr. Armit now holds the premisses but that ye said Newby
being dead & the Lease to her either Lost or mislayd & Mr Armit not
being bound to the Governers to perform the Covenants of That Lease
for the Remainder of ye Term It wou'd be proper That the new
Lease to him Shoud Convnce from Midsumr. last with a
saveing to any other person or persons who very Claim under the
former Lease But ye Court being informed that ye sd Mr Armit had
not in his new building Complyed wth: ye Terms of this Agreemt. It
is Ordered that it be Referred to ye Comee of this house to view
the premisses & Report to this Court whether or as he has Complyed
wth his agreement.
