Thomas Stringer< no role > of Bermondsey in the County
of Surrey Cowkeeper one of the Executors of the last Will and
Testament of Thomas Williams< no role > late Citizen and
Leather seller of London deced came and acquainted this Court
That his said Testator by his said Will bearing date the 25th day
"of June 1688 Reciteing that he had then oweing to £150 by
"& from him the said Thomas Stringer< no role > Christopher Docker< no role > and Luke
"White
< no role > by & upon three Bonds each of them being severally bound
"for paymt. of £50 and Interest He the said Tastator gave to his
"wife Elizabeth Williams< no role > the Interest thereof for her life
"& after her death (which happened about 12. Months ago) he gave
"to Bethlem Hospital £5 part of the said £150 and the residue
"of the said £150 to and amongst Severall other persons and for
"Several uses in the said Will menconed And the Testator by his
"Said Will directed that if it should happen the said £150, or any
"part thereof should be lost or could not be obtained by the
"Failure of any Security or by any other accident that the several
"Legatees therein named should bear a proportconable part of
"Such Loss out of the several Legacees And the said Thomas
Stringer
< no role > further acquainted this Court that £50 part of the
said £150, due from the said Luke White was by him paid to
William Nash< no role > the other Executor of the said Will who dyed about
Six Months ago insolvent And that £10 part of the said £50
which was due from the said Docker was paid to one Short in
Satisfaccon of a debt due to him from the said Testator and £40
residue thereof was paid to this Depont so that there remaines
no more than £90 of the said £150 to be divided amongst the said
Legatees whereof the proportion to Bethlem Hospital is £3
and no more which the said Thomas Stringer< no role > offered to pay in
discharge of the said Legacy deducting only 6d in the pound
towards the Charges he had been at in proveing the said Will
Whereupon It is Ordered that if upon an affidavit
of the said Thomas Stringer< no role > to be made before a Master in Chancery
it shall appear that the hath is as before Sett forth Then the
Clerk of these Hospitals upon receipt of £2..17.6 do give
the said Thomas Stringer< no role > a Discharge for the said Legacy of
Five pounds
