had been were comitted through ignorance and not by a
willfull neglect of his duty And as to the psons comitted &
discharged on the night of the late Riott It was a matter
that was new & in Confusion and the examination Comittmt.
& discharged were taken and transacted by two Alderman
of this Citty Governors. of these Hospitals whose Jurisdiccon
the Petr. could not deny and therefore hoped would have
excused him And as to that and what other omissions have
been he humbly beggd pardon of their Worshipps and hoped
they would impute em to his great age and not to any willfull
omission of his duty or disrespect of their Worshipps or any
Simster ends to himselfe And if the Petr. by reason of his
great age Should be thought incapable of pformeing the Duty
of his said Office to the Satisfaccon of their Worshipps rather
than incurr their displeasure he woud resigne and in respect
of his great age & indisposition of body great family and
long Service and that in all probability he cannot belong
chargeable to 'em humbly Submitted himselfe and Station
to their Worshipps and prayed that they would allow him
Something for his life It is Ordered that the Consideracon
of the sd Petition be referred to the Comee of this house
who are to Report to this Court what they think fitt to be
done therein
