Referred to his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for the said
County acting in the said Hundred to Examine the matter of
the said Petition at their special Sessions and if they should
be of opinion that the said Mr. Clarke was a sufficient and
fit Person to Execute the said office then to administer to him
the Oath for the due Execution thereof and the said Mr.
Clarke was by the said Order required to conform himself
and it was by the said Order of Reference recommended
to the said Justices in case they should be of opinion that
the said Mr. Clarke was not a fit Person to Execute the
said office to nominate and return to this Session some
other person or persons duly qualified to Execute the said
office to the intent that an appointment might be made of
an High Constable
there in stead of the said Mr. Clarke
who was thereupon to stand discharged from the said Office
Now upon reading the Report of

Esquires
two of his Majesty's Justices of
the peace for the said County acting in their said Hundred
in their special Sessions held the 14th. day of December last
setting forth that they having that Day Examined into
the Merits of the abovenamed Petition of the said James
Clarke touching his inability of properly serving the said
office of High Constable did adjudge him incapable of
serving the said Office and did Name and return John
Walls Gentleman
of Ponders end
within the Parish of
Enfield
aforesaid as a proper Person to serve the same This
Court being satisfied in the Premisses doth appoint the said
John Wells< no role >
to be one of the High Constables
of the said Hundred
in the stead and place of the said
James Clarke< no role >
(who is to
stand discharged according to the said Order) and doth
order that the said
John Wells< no role >
do on Notice here of forthwith
attend this court to take upon him the said office and to take his
Corporal
Oath for the due Execution thereof and in Case the said
John Wells< no role >
shall not have notice hereof during this Session
That then he attend one of his Majesty's Justices residing in or
near the said hundred and to take his said Oath without further
delay as he will answer for his neglect there in.
