The Examination of Mary Westwood< no role > Singlewoman Passed from the
Parish of St. James in ye. Liberty of Westmr . to ye. Parish of St. Clemt. Danes in the County of Middx the taken the 14.
Day of Novr. 1739 Who upon her Voluntary Oath saith that she is
Pregnant with Child or Children wch when Born will be a Bastard
or Bastards & likely to become Chargeable to ye. sd. Parish of St.
Clement Danes She this Examint. being Poor & not able to maintaine
the same Wm. Born And further upon her Oath saith that One John
Young
< no role > did begett the sd. Child or Childn. on her Body she this
Examint. at such time liveing as a Yearly hired Servt . with one Mr. Harper
in Clare Markett in the sd. Parish of St. Clement Danes and he
the sd. Jno. Young< no role > at the sd. time being Journeyman to the said Mr.
Harper & liveing in the House there became acquainted with her and
had Carnall Knowledge of her Body Sevll. times in the sd. House
att one of wch times he got her with the Bastard Child or Children
with which she is now Pregnant & that he and no other Person is
the true & real Father thereof
