he used to have with him, he being appointed also
to protect the House by Mrs. Drake, who furnished
him with a Blunderbuss for that purposeCharles
Knight< no role > the Gardiner get a Ladder and looked over
the Wall, and seeing there was only one Man told
him he must go away, he must not come in, but
the Deceased Swore he would, Charles Knight< no role > then
opened the Gate with an intention to call the Watch
and that the Deceased immediately endeavoured to

rush in, and Knight then told the Deceased, if
he come in at the Gate, he would blow his Beams
out (Knight had the Blunderbuss at this time in
his Hand) Knight went out and Deponent Shut
the Gate too directly, the Deceased however then
endeavouring to come inKnight was gone for
about a quarter of an Hour for the Watch, during
which time the Deceased pounded and made a
great Noise at the Gate, with his hand several time
on the top lying to get in, Saying Dam his Eyes
he'd set the House a flare if he was not let in
When Knight returned he rang at the Gate, and
Deponent looked thro' the slide Board, and seeing
Knight he asked him if he had get any Watch
for to take this Man (the Deceased away) Knight
said he had been to Several Places but they were
gone to Bed but he believed one Watchman would come
presently, and said Come open the Gate and let me in
Deponent opened the Gate and Knight came in, used
at that very instant the Deceased rushed in Deceased
