then went away to get others and on his way he heard
the Report of a Gun and when he came back he
Saw the Deceased bleeding on the Steps, and the Bow
Street Patrole was then there

Samuel Mayner< no role > a Patrole on his Oath saith, that
Tuesday Night last as he was on [..] his Duty opposite
Kensington Gore , he heard the Report of a Gun , or as
he rather thought from the great Noise of a Blunderbiss
he and three more Patroles mended their pace and
came to the Duke of Rutland's House, and on enquery
of some, People at the Gate he was informed some
Person had been Shot thereDeponent went in to
the Court Yard, and asked where the Poor Man was
that was shot, he was answered there he is upon
the StepsDeponent went to him and saw he was
Wounded and saw some Blood he asked Who shot
him the Gardner was by and said he didDept.
said this is an odd Kind of Business what could induce you to shoot him and how can you
let

let the Man lye in this mannerI shall take [..]
to the Hospital and I believe I shall take you to,
the Gardner said laughingly take MeDeponent
took the Deceased to St. Georges Hospital , and the
Gardner to Covent Garden Watch House for that Night
and in the Morning took him before [..] Sr. Sampson

Deceased said to Deponent he had been Shot by a
Gardner, but he would Dye by his GunDeponent
Says he thinks the Deceased was much in Liquor
