Informations taken this Fourth day
of October 1776 at the Parish of St James
william the Liberty of Westmr in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching
the death of a new born Female Child lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty & County

Thomas Miller< no role > a Plairterer in Whites alley
Chancery Lane on his Oath saiths That he was
employed with a Laborer this Morning to open a Drain that was Stopped
to let the Sail orit of a necessary belonging
to two House in Edward Street in the Parish of
St James Westmr in the occupation of Mr
Fair brother & Mr Brown as Dept was informed
Says that the Laborer (whose name is James
Hodgkis
< no role > was below in the Necessary filling a
pail with the soil and Dept drew up the Pail
Says that about Eleven o'Clock Hodgers said Miller take care of at
there is a silver Tankard, upon which Dept looked
and saw a White Earthen Quort Mue and
in it a Female Child with some [..]
about her Neck, and fasten'd to the handle of the
Mug, Says that the Child was dead, and appeared
to have been some days in the Soil, Says that
he washed the Deced and observed no marks
of violence upon her

Parish of St James Westmr Green Grocer on his
Oath saith That the Drain out of his Necessary
and Mr. Browns the adjoining Neighbour was stopped Says
that Mr Miller and a Laborer were there
this Morning Emptying the Necessary, and
about Eleven O'Clock Miller said here is a Child
