And the use of a Passage or Alley leading [..] to the Back Ground
and Buildings Situate on the west side of the High Street of the Burrough of
Southwark in the Parish of St: George the Martyr in the County of Surrey
lately held by the said Abraham Jordan< no role > under a Lease which expired at
Christmas 1719 : for the Terme of One and Twenty years Comenceing from
Lady day last (1722) At the Yearly Rent of Twenty pounds payable Quarterly
Tax free, and usuall Covenants. In Consideration of a Fine of Two hundred
and Fifty pounds, which he hath since paid.

We have made an Agreement with Mr: Stephen Scott< no role > and his wife and Mr.
Thomas Barry< no role > their Tenant , of a House and Garden in St: Thomas's Parish
adjoyning to the Ground on which the new Hospitall is Erecting by our Worthy
Governor and Benefactor Thomas Guy< no role > Esqr : for a Small part of the sd: Garden
which is already added to the Ground on which the said new Hospitall is erecting
And part of that Hospitall is built upon it; And also for the Liberty of takeing
down part of a Warehouse adjoyning to the said Barrys dwelling-house (if there
shall be occasion) to make A Regular and open passage to the Great Gate of the
said new Hospitall out of St. Thomas's Street . In Consideration where of we are
to pay One hundred pounds to the said Mr Scott, or for his use, And to Grant A
new Lease of the Remainder of the said Garden and Warehouse, and of the said
Dwelling-house, and of a Small old Tenement adjoyning to the lyeing in Three
Herring Court (which is now used by the said Thomas Barry< no role > as a Warehouse for
Hopps and joyned to the said other Warehouse) And of a Small peice of Ground
adjoyning to the Kitchin of the said Barrys Dwelling-house, on which a Brewhouse
hath been lately Erected, For the Remainder of the Terme yet to come in the
Lease by which the said Scott and his wife and her Trustees now hold the said House
and Garden to this Hospitall, At the old yearly Rent reserved by that Lease
which is to be Surrendred to the Hospitall

New Governours


We have sent Green Staffs to Sr: Henry Maynard< no role > Bart : Mr. John Jenkins< no role > ,

Martin
< no role > Esqr : Josias Wordsworth< no role > Esqr : Edward Harrison< no role > Esqr : Mr John Hollister< no role > , Mr John Wowen< no role > , Mr John Jacob< no role >
and Mr: William Voyce< no role > , as proper persons to be Governors of this Hospitall

The Leases of severall of the Hospitalls Houses in Wapping being just
expired, And the wharfes of the said Houses, which all Eye next the Thames appearing
upon our view there, to be very defective, and under a necessity of being new Built,
we think it will be for the Service of the Hospitall to have the said Wharfes Rebuilt
at the Charge and under the Care of the Hospitalll , And that the new Wharfes should
be made with Brick and not with plank, as the present Wharfes are: And we have
accordingly Given Orders for the makeing such new Wharfes as soon as the Season
shall be proper.

Grant to Mr Casberd


We have Repaired Two Small Old Houses in St: Thomas's Parish , One late
Ferris's and the other adjoyning East wards near Hatchetts Corner late Walleys;
And have Agreed with Mr Casberd the Minister of the said Parish to Encourage
him to Reside in the said parish, That he shall have the same during ye pleasure
of the Governors, At the old Ground Rent of Four pounds Eight shillings P Annum
Tax free, from Christmas Last 1722: And he is to Quitt the same upon a Quarters
Warning.

Upon a View taken in July last of our Estate at Orpington in Kent Wee
found severall Oakes in our Woods there which were dead at Topp and begining to
decay, we therefore Ordered them to be Felled, and they have been Since felled and
lye ready to be used or Sold: And there being no manner of Building upon our Lands
there
