To the Right Worpll. the Generall Court of the Governors
of St. Thomas's Hospitall

Gratuity to
the Steward


Wee taking Notice of the Extraordinary Diligence and paines of our
present Steward Mr. Houlton in the Lervice of this Hospitall And the Business of
his Office being inlarged by the Great Increase of Patients Wee Recomendit
to this Court as our Opinion That a Gratuity of Term Pounds should be Given
him for the same for the last Yeare

1o. May 1717.


Which Wee nevertheless Submitt to the Grave Judgment
of this Court.

Which Report was well liked and Approved of by this Court And
it is Ordered That the Gratuity of Ten pounds thereby Recomended to be
Given to our present Steward Mr. Houlton for his Extraordinary Diligence
and pains in the Service of this Hospitall be paid him by Mr. Treasurer And
his further Ordered That the said Report be Entred in the Reportory of the
Proceeding of this Court.

A Mocon being made for this Court to Proceed to the Choice of
an Hospiller in the Roome of Mr Richard Mayo< no role > lately Deceased A Debate
arose concerning the Duty of the Hospiller on Sundays Which having
been well Consider'd of It was Agreed and Ordered by this Court
That the Hospitler now to be Chosen And All future Hospitlers of this Hospitler
Shall Read Prayers on every Sunday in the Forenoon at Eleven a Clock And
also Read Prayer and Preach a Sermon every Sunday in the Afternoon
beginning between Two and Three a Clock.

Then this Court Provided to the said Chosie And the Peticons of Mr.
Richard Mayo< no role > Clerk Son of the said Deceased Hospiller and Mr. Thomas
Andrews
< no role > Clerk were presented to this Court and Read Severally Praying to
be Elected by this Court to Succeed the said Mr Richard Mayo< no role > as Hospiller
of this Hospitall And the said Richard Mayo< no role > the son was afterwards duely
Elected and Chosen to the said Office or Place of Hospiller To hold the same
with the pension or Stipend Usually paid by this Hospitall And all Fees
and Perquisites thereunto belonging during the Pleasure and good liking
of this Court, And he was Anquainted with the above menco [..] Order
and promised to Observe the same.
