The Orders and Proceedings of the last Generall Court

The Report from the Grand Committee of their Proceedings Since
the last Generall Court was Read as followeth (Vizt.)

To the Right Worshipll. the Generall Court of the Government
of St. Thomas's Hospitall

Wee the Grand Committee appointed fro manageing the Affaires
of this Hospitall doe humbley Report our Proceedings therein Since the last
Generall Court held the first day of May 1717 to be as followes. (Vizt.)

Upon the Purchase made by this Hospitall in the Year 1713 of Ye Mannor
of Catherines in Parndon in Essex of MrBrown and his wife with
part of the Money given by the Will of Mr. John Rand< no role > ; The said Browne and this
wife conveyed together with the said Mannor and the Demesnes thereof certain
Lands called Hammers Lands containing about un [..] co, which as they
informed us had been lett out by some forner Preprictor upon a long Lease
then expired, or near expiring, Part whereof was then in possession of Sr .
Richard Child< no role > who clained it as his Freehold, but they could not give us any
certain Accompt of the said Lease or which were the Particular Lands In the
latter end of the year 1717 after much Inquiry, we obtained a Discovery, That
these Lands were demised by William and Andrew Benton< no role > to One Thomas Green< no role >
for 98 Years from Christmas 1614 and were held by the present Occupyers only by
