There being a considerable Arrears of Rent due for severall old houses
in Hatchetts Corner, & some new built Houses in Joyners Street which were
formerly Lett to One Bland but no Counterpart of the said Lease [..] sealed
me the said old Houses being pery Ruinons & ready to Fall, Wee thought
it for the Interest of this Hospll. to accept a Surrender of the said Lease and the
premisses thereby Granted from Mr. Jackson & , Mr. Taylor who were last
Interested therein. Excepting only the Liberty of Continuing an open way
or passage over part of the ground granted by the said Lease, leading out of
St. Thomas's Parish into Joyners Street aforesaid, which Liberty We have
agreed to Demise to the said Jackson , or Taylor for the Remr. of the Terme
now to come in the said surrendred Lease at a pepper Corne & Ann
It being greatly for the Benefit & advantage of our Tennants
Inhabiting in the said Parish of St. Thomas to have the sd. Mayor Passage
Continued and kept open.

Wee have agreed with Mr. Dennis Herbert< no role > (our Tennant of six
Houses, Two whereof are in Hatchetts Corner , and the other four in St. Thomas
Street in the parish of St. Thomas upon a Lease Expiring at Xtmas 1714 at
Eleven pounds P Ann Rent That in Conn. of the Surrender of that Lease
and of Fifty pounds Five to be paid in hand, and pulling downe on the
Clossett & passage or Doore way under the sd. Closett. lyeing on the North side
of the Great House in Hatchetts Corner aforesaid and carrying up an upright
Wall of Brick for Fencing the sd. House in that part where the sd. Clossett and
passage are to be pulled downe, from the Ground belonging to the sd. Hospll
late in Lease to Mr. Bland, and of his repairing in good & substantiall manner
all the rest of the Wall of the said Great Houses lyeing next of the sd. Ground
And in Comn. of his Surrendring to the use of the Hospll. The Ground or
Soyle of the sd. Passage or Door way, & under the said Clossett, and also the
Ground or Soyle of a Roome under part of one of the Houses late in
Lease to the sd. Bland & lately Fallen downe. That he the sd. Dennis
Herbert

the sd. Great House, and of the other Fire Houses for one & Thirty yeares from
Xtmas next at the Old Rent of Eleven Pounds P Ann:

Lease of an old Mesuage or Tenemt. in the high Street of the Borough of
Southwarke in St. Saviours parish called or [..] by the Name or Signe of
the Rose, now in Lease to one Mr. Lynch, from Michas 1709 at which
time the present Lease expires For the Terme of one & Twenty yeares
